A beautiful, lyrical snapshot of pre-adolescence that stood out against the evening's dominant chords of humor and absurdity. And while I'm tempted to acknowledge the "Malkovich Malkovich" clip , I'm going to hand the award for Best Clip to Warren, for his selection of Mark Borchardt's midwinter outdoor ADR session with his elderly uncle, from AMERICAN MOVIE. The scene is hilarious, even to someone who doesn't know the film is non-fiction. And the award for What the Hell Was That? goes to Barbara, for
the wacked out silverware-lifting, tap-dancing scene from GUMMO. Close
runner-up status goes to Mike's clip of Tom Courtenay's prolongued gibberish
rant from BILLY LIAR, but I can't let him win this every year. |
